Why Choose Great American RV for Your RV Service?

Your RV isn't a car, and servicing one isn't the same as pulling into your neighborhood repair shop.
A modern RV can combine 12-volt DC and 120-volt AC electrical systems, plumbing, propane, HVAC, appliances, generators, solar, inverters, slide rooms, leveling systems, running gear and increasingly sophisticated electronics, all in one unit that's bouncing down the highway.
When something needs attention, who works on your RV matters.
At Great American RV SuperStores, RV service isn't an afterthought. We've spent more than 40 years building the technicians, facilities, manufacturer relationships and resources needed to help RV owners maintain their investment and get back to what they bought their RV to do in the first place: go camping.
RVTI-Certified Technicians
A service facility is only as capable as the people doing the work.
Great American RV has more RVTI-certified technicians than any other dealer in the Priority RV Network.
The RV Technical Institute, or RVTI, provides standardized training specifically for RV technicians. Its training progresses from RV inspection through diagnostics and repair, specialty training and master-level technician education. Great American RV is also listed by RVTI as an Authorized Learning Partner.
Why should that matter to an RV owner?
Because RV technicians have to understand how multiple systems interact with each other. An electrical issue can affect an appliance. Low battery voltage can create seemingly unrelated problems with leveling systems or slide rooms. A water leak may originate somewhere completely different from where you first see the water.
Training gives technicians a foundation for diagnosing the cause of a problem rather than simply replacing parts and hoping the problem disappears.
Experience With the Systems in Today's RVs
RV technology has changed tremendously since Great American RV first opened in 1984.
Today's RV technician may encounter traditional propane appliances one day and lithium batteries, solar charging, inverters, multiplex controls or sophisticated electronic leveling systems the next.
Then there are the systems RVs have relied on for decades: air conditioners, furnaces, water heaters, refrigerators, plumbing, electrical systems, slide rooms, awnings, generators and running gear.
Different manufacturers can also use completely different equipment and construction methods.
That's one reason experience matters.
Great American RV has been family owned since 1984, giving our company more than four decades of experience in an industry that continues to evolve.
We've watched RV technology change, and our training has to change with it.
State-of-the-Art RV Service Facilities
Good technicians also need the right place to work.
Great American RV has invested in RV service facilities throughout our dealership network, with service bays designed to accommodate everything from towable RVs to motorhomes.
Our facilities give technicians the workspace and resources needed for routine RV maintenance, warranty work, diagnostics and major repairs.
That's an important distinction when you're deciding where to take an RV.
These aren't automotive bays where somebody occasionally works on a camper. RV sales and service are what we do every day.
Our locations provide RV service and repair performed by RVTI-certified technicians, covering everything from routine service to warranty work and major repairs.
More Than 40 Years of Manufacturer Relationships
One of the less visible parts of RV service can also be one of the most important: the relationship between the dealership and the RV manufacturer.
After more than 40 years in the RV industry, Great American RV has developed long-standing relationships with many of the manufacturers whose products we sell and service. Our own company material notes that we maintain close manufacturer relationships while continuing to train and collaborate to stay current on product knowledge.
Those relationships become especially important during warranty repairs.
When an RV is still under its manufacturer's warranty, repairs generally have to be authorized by that manufacturer. That process can involve diagnostics, photographs, documentation, repair authorization, technical information and parts.
Our service and parts teams work through those processes every day.
Having an established working relationship with manufacturers doesn't mean every warranty claim will be automatically approved or that every part will arrive immediately. Those decisions and timelines can still depend on the manufacturer.
What it does mean is that our teams understand the process and know how to work within it.
RV Warranty and Extended Warranty Service
Warranty work can involve considerably more than identifying what's broken.
Once a technician diagnoses an issue, documentation may need to be submitted for authorization before repairs can proceed. Parts have to be identified and sourced, and some warranty providers may require additional inspections or documentation.
Manufacturer warranties and extended service contracts can also operate differently.
Great American RV's service teams deal with these processes regularly. Our current service guidance notes that manufacturer-warranty work must be performed within the appropriate brand's service network, while Great American RV locations can perform work using extended service contracts.
That experience can be valuable when you're trying to understand what happens next with your RV.
RV Service Isn't Just About Fixing What's Broken
Some of the most important RV service happens before something fails.
Preventive RV maintenance can help identify developing concerns before they interrupt a camping trip or turn into a larger repair.
Depending on your RV and the manufacturer's maintenance requirements, service may include inspections and maintenance involving roof sealants, slide systems, brakes and bearings on towables, generators on motorhomes, appliances, batteries and other systems.
Great American RV recommends an annual once-over for many Gulf Coast RV owners, while the exact maintenance schedule should always follow the requirements for your specific RV and installed components.
The goal isn't simply to repair RVs.
It's to help keep them camping.
Parts Support Matters Too
Finding the problem is only half the job.
You still need the right part to repair it.
Great American RV locations combine service departments with parts support and Camping Stores. Our parts counters carry RV parts and accessories and can special-order items when needed.
That gives our technicians another resource when they're working through a repair.
And if you're handling a smaller project yourself, our Camping Stores can help with many of the parts, accessories, maintenance products and camping supplies RV owners use every day.
Same-Day Service for Qualifying Repairs
We understand that dropping off your RV isn't always convenient.
You bought it to use it.
For certain noncritical service concerns, Great American RV may be able to schedule an appointment where the RV can be diagnosed and taken home the same day rather than remaining at the dealership in the normal service queue.
Not every repair qualifies for same-day service.
Some jobs require extensive diagnostics, manufacturer authorization, parts ordering or additional repair time.
But when the concern can be addressed without keeping the RV unnecessarily, we want to help you get back to camping.
Ask your Service Advisor whether Same-Day Service may be an option for your particular concern.
Service Support Across Nine Locations
Great American RV currently has nine locations across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, giving RV owners access to service resources throughout our footprint.
That includes locations in Breaux Bridge and Hammond, Louisiana; Hattiesburg and Tupelo, Mississippi; Calera, Grand Bay, Heflin and Huntsville, Alabama; and DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
That larger footprint gives Great American RV access to technicians, parts resources and experience across numerous RV brands and types.
Because sometimes having another experienced set of eyes available makes a difference.
Priority RV Network Support When You Travel
Of course, RV owners aren't supposed to stay close to their dealership.
The entire point is to travel.
Great American RV is part of the Priority RV Network, a nationwide alliance of independent RV dealerships. Customers who qualify through participating locations receive priority service benefits at member dealers while traveling.
That's particularly valuable when your RV develops a problem hundreds or thousands of miles from the dealership where you bought it.
One important distinction is that Great American RV's Huntsville location is not currently part of the Priority RV Network, while our other Great American RV locations are participating members.
That's worth being clear about because we want customers to understand exactly what coverage and support applies to them.
We Want RV Owners to Understand Their RVs
Sometimes you don't need a service appointment.
You just need an answer.
That's one reason Great American RV created Helpful Hacks.
We produce RV how-to videos and technical information covering the questions owners actually run into: leveling systems, appliances, electrical systems, water heaters, winterization, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Our Helpful Hacks resources are designed to help owners better understand their RV and determine when something is a simple operational issue and when it's time to bring the RV into a service center.
Customer education is part of service too.
The more you understand about your RV, the better prepared you are to operate it, maintain it and recognize when something isn't working correctly.
We Understand Southern RVing
Where you camp matters.
Heat, humidity, heavy rain, long camping seasons and coastal environments can all be part of RV ownership across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
An RV sitting through a Gulf Coast summer faces different conditions than one stored in a cooler, drier climate.
That's another advantage of working with an RV service department that's been operating in this region for decades.
We live here too.
